Honourable Chancellor Dr Ashok Gupta and Vice Chancellor Dr TN Mathur gave tribute to the veteran player by offering flowers  Dr Gupta on the ocassion said that IIS University is committed to all the areas and  promotes all kind  sports and the women players since it's beginning All the deans and faculty members were present on the ocassion .Dr Renu Shungloo , Secretary Sports Board gave vote of thanks .

Objective:

  • To know the importance of sports in life which helps us to build confidence, develops our personality and maintain mental and physical balance.

The session of ‘Tale of sports and life’ was taken Miss Jaya Dwivedi (alumnae), she was a proud member of IISU volleyball team and former president of sports council and member of Sports Board. She represented IIS University volleyball team at national level and west zone tournaments. She is full of life and excitement which help scholars to know more about the sports and life. In this period of quarantine, we all have learned new thing getting connected with others but the most important thing is to know how to be motivated and to know what is good for us. In the session Miss Jaya guided us in an inspiring manner. Her main motto was to tell us about the importance of sports as it is not always about winning the competition, but also about learning and trying to do better than next time. She also discussed about managing our day routine which will help us get a good quality of life in which we have to divide the work into four main categories. The total numbers of students were 109, who actively took part in the session and showing their full concern in a positive manner. In last she bided up the session by asking the students their doubts which she answered in very fine and pleasing manner.

Outcome: In the session Miss Jaya guided us in an inspiring manner and her main motto was to tell us about the importance of sports as it is not always about winning the competition, but also about learning and trying to do better than next time.

10-Day Online Yoga Workshop

Objectives of the Event      :    To boosts the Immunity of an Individual through                                                     Yoga.

                                               To Improves the Mental well-being of an Individual.

In order to combat the Current Scenario of Covid-19, The Department of Physical Education, IIS (deemed to Be) University, Jaipur, organised a 10-Days Online Workshop on “Immunity Enhancement with Yoga”.On May 22, 2021, a 10-Day this online workshop was started with a Purposeful Objectives.

In which a Yoga Trainer, Ms.Sunita Sharma, Lecturer in Yoga at IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur(May 22, 2021- May 24, 2021) andDr.Navneet Malethia, Assistant Professor of Yoga atRashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Jaipur(May 25, 2021 – May 31, 2021)highlighted the importance of Yoga in our day-to-day life. Every day the session was started with the Yoga Prayers then they performed various Asanas like Vakrasana, Shalabhasana, Naukasana, shashankasana, Gomukhasana, Om Chanting, Kapalbhati, Anulom-Velom, TaalYog, various general exercises, importance of colours in our life through colour therapy etc. are trained with their Contraindications and discussed about that how these asanas can help us to boost our immunity and made our mental power strong in current situation. After that they gave us the instructions about the righteous way to perform various breathing Pranayama and Meditations which provides us the relaxedness. All the Participants shows their full Interest in the workshop and some including their family members with them, Total no. of participants from all over the India was 300 in this Yoga workshop who actively take part in this workshop and show their full concern in field of Yoga. The Yoga session was concluded with an interaction Question & Answers asked by Dr. Neeraj B. Khanna, Assistant Professor at Departmental of Physical Education on behalf of every Participants.

On May 31, 2021, the chief guest of the Valedictory function was the Chancellor of IIS (deemed to be) University, Dr. Ashok Gupta, who congratulates Dr. Navneet Malethia on the success of 10 days online Yoga workshop and appreciate his efforts for the same. He also highlighted the importance of practicing yoga in present times to manage both mental and physical state and achieve a peaceful body and mind. He also congratulates Dr. Raakhi Gupta (Registrar) and Dr, Renu Shungloo (Head at Department of Physical Education), and the entire staff of IIS (Deemed to be University). Some participants sharing their Experience about the 10-Day Yoga Workshop on Valedictory function.

The Coordinator of Yoga Workshop, Dr. Renu Shungloo, express her gratitude to the trainers, Dr. Navneet Malethia, Assistant Professor of Yoga atRashtriya SanskritSansthan, Jaipur & Ms. Sunita Sharma, Lecturer in Yoga at IIS (deemed to be) University, Jaipur and to all the Participants who actively take participation in this workshop from all over the India and made it successful by their Immense support and show their full concern in this Yoga Workshop. 21 Days Workshop on Post Covid Care with Yoga

Objective: How to deal with post covid situations.

The Department of Physical Education of IISU organised 21-Days Workshop on Post Covid Care with Yoga for the IISU faculty members, which was held from 1st February to 22nd February’ 2021.

1st Week (1st to 6th February’ 2021)- The workshop was started with an opening ceremony in which Mr. Sharwan Kumar gave a speech about the role of Internal breathing (Pranayama) and after that he performed various meditative asanas like Om Chanting, Anulom-Vilom Pranayama etc.

In other days of a week, Ms. Janki Pareek, (Lecturer in Yoga at IISU) gave Demo of various asanas and therapies like as Tadasana, Kapalbhati Kriya, Laughing therapy, Bhujangasana, Salabhasana, Chakki asana and at the end of the day she performed Om Chanting.

2nd Week (8th to 13th February’2021)- In this week the session was started by basic asanas like standing warmup activities, Suryanamaskar practice, Bhastrika Pranayama, Gayatri mantra etc. asanas were performed. Several demonstration lectures and guided practices were held by special invitees such as our guest Shri Ashok Vardhan Bhargava, Shri Megh Singh Chauhan, Dr.Akansha & Dr. Hemlata who gave the theoretical knowledge on  how to remove the disease with acupressure and benefits of various asana which enhances core strength, provide energy towards the unification of mind ,body and soul..

3rd Week(15th to 22nd February’2021)- On 19th Feb the Surya Rath Saptami Divas was celebrated with Mr. Megh Singh, Shri Ashok Vardhan and Ms. Kavita Yoga Instructor in which they gave the demo and practicing Surya Namaskar with IISU faculty members and with those who cannot able to perform Surya namaskar on ground, they perform Surya Namaskar while sitting on a chair.

On 22nd Feb the Valediction Ceremony of workshop in which The Chief Guest, Mr. Shekhar Sharma gave the appreciation certificates to the faculty members, who actively take participation in the workshop.

Dr. Ashok Gupta, Chancellor IISU, appreciates the Department of Physical Education for organising this workshop and the efforts of the faculty members who take part in this workshop towards the fight against Covid-19.

  • Mass media are a function of increasing interest in sport.

On February 17, 2020 the FITNESS CLUB of IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur organized a talk session on Role of Media on Sports with Ms. Mridula Sharma, Chief Sub- Editor, Rajasthan Patrika, Jaipur. Ms. Sharma has a rich experience of 13 years in the field of Sports Reporting and Editing. She shared her experience and the influence that media have on sports. The guest was welcomed by Dr. Ruchi Goswami (Associate Professor, Dept. of Journalism and Mass Communication.

Outcome: Girls and women who play sports have higher levels of confidence and self-esteem. Girls and women who play sports have a more positive body image and experience higher states of psychological well-being.

Objective :

The main objective of sports nutrition must be preserving the health of the athlete, which can be achieved with an adequate intake adapted to the type of training performed.

The University Sports Board and Fitness Club of IISU organized a guest Lecture on Sports Nutrition. Ms. Simran Singh , (Assistant Professor, Dept. of Food and Nutrition), IISU. She shared her knowledge about the intake of various nutrients that the players should consume before and after the game. She also highlighted the benefits of Balanced Diet. Around 200 students of Sports, NCC and Physical Education attended the same.

Outcome:  A diet must be adequate, by providing sufficient amounts of each essential nutrient, as well as fiber and calories. A balanced diet results when you do not consume one nutrient at the expense of another, but rather get appropriate amounts of all nutrients.

Objective: The Main objectives and potential benefits of a sports visit is to understand certain parameters of sports ground and to acquire basic knowledge of all the sport events.

On February 3, 2020 the Sports board of IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur organized a Sports visit to Sawai Maan Singh Stadium. The students were accompanied by Dr. Renu Shungloo, Dr. Neelam Sharma, Ms. Neeraj B. Khanna & Ms. Jankee Pareek. There the students were acknowledged by various games & sports such as Cycling, Squash, Archery, Volleyball, Basketball, Hockey, Badminton, etc. Around 200 students of sports and NCC visited the same.

Outcomes:  knowledge about the  Scientific Equipments, and latest measurements of various Sports ground.

Marathon Run- ROAR , Health &Environment Run on 19 January, 2020.

Objective:

·To promote girl child education through marathon.

The students of IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur participated in the “ROAR”,2020 Rotary Health and Environment Run on 19 January, 2020. Around 95 students actively participated in the marathon run and contributed for a Noble Cause. The 5 Km. was from Albert Hall Museum to University of Rajasthan and back. The efforts of all the participants were acknowledged by rewarding a participating Medal. Ms. Purvanshi Gupta secured Third Position and made the University proud.

Outcome : Physical activities to improve the physical, social, mental wellbeing of people with Sports.

On 22nd July 2019, the University Sports Board of IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur organized a demo on martial art & self defiance by Mr.Vicky hiwali limca book record holder 2008.vajra world record holder 2018. He provided knowledge about martial art and self defence techniques and moves. And he told the difference b/w martial art &self defence. Martial art is about the art self defence is about violence. Martial art focuse on artistic expression, pirituality, competition etc. Self defence only  focus on preventing and dealing with morden violence-multiple attack, active shooter, armed robberies, rapest etc. The students of sports activity attended the same with great zeal and enthusiasm. Around 150 Students Participated in the same.

Outcome: Students are beginning to feel more confident and secured having learnt techniques to defend themselves in times of crisis. While this activity has enhanced the physical strength of girls.

In the Wake of Covid 19 Pandemic, the International Day of Yoga was celebrated in a different way this year. The theme give by the government was Yoga at home Yoga with family.  Department of Physical Education, University Sports Board and NSS Units of IIS (Deemed to be University) virtually celebrated the Sixth  International Yoga day on 21st June 2020. Around 110 Students and faculty members participated actively and celebrated International Yoga Day enthusiastically.

 Ms. Janki Pareek, Yoga lecturer acquainted the participants with the importance of yoga in our day to day life. She further emphasized on how yoga boosts immunity, mental power and helps us to fight the Pandemic situation of Covid-19. After that she gave various instructions for performing yoga. All the participants were excited and energetic throughout the session Some of the volunteers included their family members and neighbours from their society performed Yoga while maintaining proper social Distancing. The experience we got was really amazing and important in every aspect of our life.

  • Guest Lecture on Trails and Troubles faced by women on a daily basis - (30-07-2018)

     

    Ms. Deepti Joshi, ACP, Rajasthan Police Jaipur, paired up with the NGO. Indian Women’s Blog. Ms. Namrata Arora and Ms. Mala conducted a workshop on 30th July 2018 in The IIS University, to discuss the Trails and Troubles faced by women on a daily basis. Here they discussed the various stories and experiences of Women globally and further introduced the students to the “Raj Mahila Suraksha App”, which has been developed to ensure safety for women.

    OBJECTIVE:

    The Sports Board department aims at providing students with Sports environment so as to shape their all-round personality and develop their physical, mental, social, aesthetical and spiritual dimensions and cultivate basic human qualities like honesty, integrity, industriousness and tolerance. So that they may prove to be the wonderful citizens of our great nation.

    The University Sports Board and Fitness Club of IISU organized an interactive session on Squash by Ms. Surbhi Mishra ,International Squash player and alumni, IISU. She adviced the students to start their preparations four to six weeks before they start playing matches. During the first two weeks students should do lots of on-court routines and off-court aerobic fitness work . Every other day they should be doing a bit of weights work. Over the next two weeks they should play conditioned and normal games. Concentrate on what they want to improve rather than on winning the games. Also do some quick ghosting (20-30 seconds, no more) and keep up the weights sessions (light weights, more reps). Before you actually play a match you want to make sure you’ve hit plenty of balls but at the same time that you’re well rested. As a token of appreciation a memento was awarded to the resource person at the hands of Prof. RenuShungloo HOD –Department of Physical Education.

    OBJECTIVE:

  • To launch an anti-litter campaign & spread awareness about cleanliness and hygiene under Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan.

“A clean India would be the best tribute India could pay to Mahatma Gandhi on his 150 birth anniversary,” said Shri Narendra Modi as he launched the Swachh Bharat Mission. As part of this abhiyan, “Interactive session was organized on Swacch Bharat Abhiyan by Ms Shipra Sharma Deputy Commissioner, Nagar Nigam. During the talk, students actively interacted with the speaker about the current scenario of the environment, role of youth in power consumption, pollution control, control of global warming, preservation of ground water and many more issues.

    The Orientation is conducted to encourage students to keep a healthy balance between studies and active physical lifestyle.

A guestlecturetitled "How far can you run?"  was organised on 3 October, 2016 at the Srijan Hall, IISU Campus. The session was conducted by Mr. Ravi Goenka, marathon runner, Mr. Mukesh Mishra, CEO- Jaipur Sports Marathon, Ms. Millie and Mr. Heath along with their team members.They enlightened the students about the merits of running the marathon and even briefed about the various marathons taking place round the year. The speakers’ interactive and inspiring session motivated the students to participate and run for the cause and plan a daily fitness routine which would help building up their physical fitness components.

Outcome: Thestudents were made aware of the nuances of marathon running and encouraged to adopt a healthy and fit lifestyle. Many students participated in the AU marathon.

The activity was aimed at garnering interest in students regarding the importance of fitness and adopting healthy lifestyle practices. HH Padmanabh Singh of Jaipur spoke about importance of following a good healthy diet and exercise regime. He shared his experiences as a polo player. There was a huge turnout for the event and the university lawns were full of students.

A guestlecturetitled " Mountaineering and Adventure Expeditions“ wasorganised on 16 January, 2017 at the AV Hall, IISU Campus. The session was conducted by Lt. Col. Vishal Alawat, officer from Corps of EME. He was part of the first ever NCC Girls Mt Everest expedition-2016 team.  NCC Girls Mt Everest expedition-2016 team created a world record of total eleven lady-member of the same team from a country to summit Mt Everest. Lt Col Vishal Ahlawat led 4 girls cadets, 1 girl cadet instructor and one other male member and Sherpas to the summit on 22nd May 2016. Colonel Ahlawat shared his journey and perils that come with such high-stake expeditions.

Outcome: The students were able to appreciate the effort that goes into building such teams and driving them towards success. The highlight was of getting first hand experience about creating the world record and that too with Girl cadets from NCC.

    Department of Physical Education is celebrated the International Day of Yoga by organizing a one day yoga camp on Wednesday, 21th June, 2015. On the occasion, JankiPareek (yoga teacher) and Mr.Megh Singh Chouhan, Coordinator, KreedaBharati was present to teach the benefits of Yogaat SMS Stadium, Jaipur and IISU Campus.

     

    The camp commenced with Yoga Prayer. More than 150 students of IISU practiced various Yoga Asanaandmeditation to stay mentally and physically fit.

     

    Mr.Chouhan beliefs that Yoga not only covers asana but it also includes Meditation, Physical discipline and Devotional Chanting. Thus, providing Yoga revives our doormat energy. He also told us how asana of yoga help us to:

     

    ·         Rejuvenate tissues and helps in new self-formation.

    ·         Reactive nervous system.

    ·         Regulate Blood pressure

    ·         Tones up our digestive, respiratory system and all excretory glands.

     

    In addition, the participants were informed through a guest lecture about the advantages of Asana and how they can practice at home effortlessly.

    The camp ended with Pranayam and later, the guests solved all the participating queries regarding myths and Yoga Asana.

     

    Outcome:

he Department of physical education of IIS (deemed to be University) organized an orientation programme on 07/07/2015  for the new students . The orientation gave an overview of the current and upcoming physical education subject and  activities in campus . Students were informed The credit system  and syallbus.  Ex-alumni of physical education shared her experience and motivated the students.

Outcome: students were highly encouraged and will ready to participate in various games. Also they learned about how to earn extra credits.

3. Demonstration on Taekwondo Sport-(26-09-2015)

Department of Physical Education of IIS Deemed to `be University in Collaboration with the Shri Ram Choudhary Director of Shri Ram Martial Art School. Organized a one day demonstration session on 26 Sep.2015 was present to teach the benefits of Self-Defence at IISU Campus. More than 150 students of IISU practiced various Attack and Defensive Skills. 

Outcome:

Students are beginning to feel more confident and secured having learnt techniques to defend themselves in times of crisis. While this activity has enhanced the physical strength of girls.

4. Guest Lecture by Yog Guru DevendraAgrawal(State Advisor for National Health Mission) on topic “Yoga, Health and Fitness” – (06-02-2016)

Objective:

The objective of the lecture was to promote “ Save Girl Child” programme and to educate students about health, meditation and the benefits of it.

The Department of Physical Education of IIS University organized a guest lecture on “Yoga, Health and Fitness “ on6 February 2016 by Guru DevendraAgrawal, State Advisor for National Health Mission. The lecture took place in Srijan Hall and a total of 200 students attended the same.

Yog Guru DevendraAgrawalhad given families to 133 girls as people consider girls to be a burden on families . He also said that people need to change their mindset first and only then can girls survive on this planet. He also stated that it is more important to educate people that girls should be treated equally in the society and should not be seen from a different perspective.

Outcome:

The students were filled with enthusiasm and took a pledge to teach their families, friends and neighbours the importance of girl child and then further take it on a larger scale. The lecture ended at a positive note.

5. Guest Lecture by Physiotherapist Dr.Vikram Sharma of Fortis Hospital, Jaipur on topic entitled “Sports Injuries and its prevention” – (17-02-2016)

Objective :

  • To provide knowledge about the various muscular injuries and how to get rid of them.

The University Sports Board and IISU organized a guest Lecture on Sports Injuries and its prevention byDr.VikramSharma , Physiotherapist Fortis Hospital, Jaipur on 17 February 2015, at 9:30 am to 10:30 a.m. in AV hall of IISU campus. He shared a video about the muscular injuries which can be faced by any sport person during play a game. He also shows some exercise and some points of pressure which helps immediately a relief after a sudden injury.  He also gave some beneficial points which helps any person to get relief in their muscle and body pain Around 45 students of Sports, NCC and Physical Education attended the same and get benefited.

Outcome: students get knowledge about various pressure points in body which helps to reduce their muscular pains.

6. Self-Defense Activity for 10 Days – (23-02-2016 to 04-03-2016).

The Department of Physical Education of IIS University organized A-10-day Saksham-self-defence workshop for the students of the IIS Deemed to be University by Mr. Manoj Goyal (Head Coach), Mr. Manish Verma, Mr.VinayKumawat and Ms.Chakshu Kanda, Agency of Rajasthan State Sports Council. Nearly 500 girls from NCC and Sports department benefitted from this workshop which made them strong and confident.
